Footscray West Primary School believes that by working together we help our children become successful and caring people who value relationships and are connected to their community.
Families are welcome and encouraged to participate in school life.
There are many things you can do in the classroom; from reading with students, helping with excursions and special activities, sharing a special interest or expertise with class groups, to preparing resources or covering books. If you are interested ask your child’s teacher how you can help.
There are also many ways to be involved across the whole school, including joining the School Council or one of its sub-committees, socialising and fundraising with the Parents Association, assisting in the garden, and anything else… if you notice something needs doing, it probably does!
Family members are also invited to assist at special events like school discos, working bees, and by accompanying camps and excursions. Check the Calendar and keep an eye on the weekly Newsletter for details.
Keep an eye on the Newsletter, talk to other parents, and check the Calendar for news of upcoming events.
If you are helping at the school, you are required to complete the school’s Classroom Helpers program (see the Compass newsfeed for details), submit a current Working with Children Check and familiarising yourself with the school's Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Induction Handbook.
