Hello Prep students and families!
We hope that you have had a relaxing break. The Prep team are really looking forward to our first day of school next Monday 1st February.
We can barely wait to meet you all!
Just a reminder that Prep students finish school at 12:30 pm on their first day of school on Monday, and from then on will complete full days at school (9am-3:30pm) with the exception of the first three Wednesdays during February which are reserved as Prep Assessment days.
The dates for these assessment interviews are: February 3rd, February 10th and February 17th. This one hour appointment provides an opportunity for the class teachers to get to know each child and complete some literacy and numeracy activities. This information will then be used for plan for future lessons.
Parents and carers are not required during this time, so you may wish to go home or have a coffee at the cafe next door. Alternatively you are welcome to remain at school. As with all visitors who are onsite for 15 minutes or more, you will be required to sign in at the main office and wait in the Gallery space of the Dingo building. We also request you complete a questionnaire, which can be returned at this time or at your earliest convenience.
Please take note of the before and after school arrangements:
The school gates will open at 8:50am and students are asked to go directly to their classroom, where their teacher will be waiting for them. Due to COVID restrictions on indoor gatherings, we are unable to invite parents into the classroom, so we will be using the ‘Kiss and Go’ strategy. Many families will be familiar with this from kindergarten. Feel free to walk your child to the classroom door where their teacher will welcome them into the room and then depart. Whilst there may be some tears (from the adults too!) we assure you that children settle very quickly.
At the end of the day, students will be brought outside to the front of their classroom with their teacher, where parents and carers can collect them. We ask that you inform your child’s teachers you have arrived so that we know your child has been collected safely.
It is important to develop effective communication between school and home. We encourage you to speak to us about any concerns or queries you may have. Should you need to chat please arrange a mutually convenient time. You can call the school on 9687 1535 and leave a voicemail message. Next week you will receive further information about contacting us directly through email in a welcome letter from your child’s teacher.
Thanks for your support,
The Prep team
