COMMUNICATION
School Reports and Parent/Teacher interviews happen twice a year to discuss children's needs and progress. Personal Learning Diaries containing samples and evaluations of children's work are sent home in the week before interviews.
You are welcome to meet with your child's teacher at any time to discuss any matter you are concerned about, or that you think the teacher should be aware of. Contact the office to organise a time that will suit both you and the teacher.
The Primary Welfare Officer, Assistant Principal and the Principal are also available by appointment.
Footscray West runs sessions for classroom helpers and general interest, and provides other information on how children learn and how the curriculum is taught. Families are encouraged to take an active role in their child's learning.
Teachers and children appreciate your assistance in classroom programs, while parents gain a better understanding of how children spend their day.
Everyone is also welcome to attend Monday morning assemblies in the GAP. Assemblies are a time for the whole school to share important news, showcase talents and congratulate our Pupils of the Week.
Interpreters
A Vietnamese Aide is available to assist parents on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Interpreters for other languages can be arranged on request.
Support Group Meetings are held regularly for children whose needs require more individualised programs.
The Newsletter is published each Thursday. Your family can receive one each week or opt to view yours online. A Vietnamese version is available.
