CONNECTOR BUGS

underline

Connector Bugs is a hands-on environmental and social group that supports the Sustainable Schools program at Footscray West. Parents, toddlers, pre-schoolers, extended family, and community members are all warmly welcome.

Connector Bugs run open gardening sessions in the school grounds every Monday, after assembly at Emu Corner (behind the gym). You don’t need to know anything about sustainability or have a 'green thumb' to join in. Just turn up, enjoy the company, the fresh air, and have some fun while making a difference to the local environment.

As well as helping the kids in the vegie gardens and orchard areas, Connector Bugs also support many activities and special projects, including:

  • Whole-school cook-ups
  • Water saving initiatives
  • National Tree Day and Arbour Week
  • Classroom activities
  • The bush-tucker garden and art project
  • The Habitat Haven - an outdoor learning area and sustainable garden along Argyle St
  • The annual Prep Sunflower Welcome
  • Classroom composting
  • Excursions
  • Environmental awards
  • Family social events throughout the year

Connector Bugs also works with Maribyrnong Council and a variety of community and corporate groups to develop projects and provide information about sustainability at school and at home.

Keep an eye on the Newsletter and Calendar for the latest Connector Bug activities.
